My Beautiful Butterfly

She smiles quietly at me and asks me to sit down

Laughter escapes for a moment before going out.

She looks in my eyes and sees the storm inside,

The clouds gather around my soul, and help me lie.

And it’s raining, it’s pouring down me

I have no shelter from the storm within

And I wish this could be the ending

And the moment I lost will be regained.

She’s wrapping around my hands and holds me tight,

I wish I could hold her in my arms for another night

Maybe I could let her go for a moment

And watch this beautiful butterfly stretch her wings.

While it’s raining, it’s pouring down

I’m still unsure of the best solutions,

Can I fight the urge to hold her in my arms

And finally allow her to fly?

She’s crying another night; I let her down, shocking.

I wish I could take it back, and hide my words away.

The dark comes and covers me; I wish I could tell her

That no one aside from her can take a hold of me.

Is it raining, it’s pouring down. The world is shivering,

I wish I could wipe the tears I helped her shed.

I love her, she is my soul I wish that I could show

All the emotion hidden behind this locked door.

She dreams happy dreams again, and fills the world with laughter,

Another man has her heart and holds it tight together,

He fixed what I have broken, and holds her tight again,

But does he know that secret that she hides within?

While it’s raining, it’s pouring down; I don’t know what to do,

I want her back in my arms but I won’t ask her to.

She’s my world, and I regret, letting her down…

But missing her like I do, hides the pain inside.

Without her it’s raining, it’s pouring down me

I have no shelter from the storm within

And I wish this could be the ending

And the moment I lost will be regained.

Can she see the storm I hide,

Can she see the lightning,

I hope she knows I love her best…

There’s no one else out there.

I can’t tell her, my dearest girl about the storm raging inside,

But I don’t mind the longing for her, while she’s my life.

I’m quite content with seeing her… my beautiful butterfly

Open her wings and watching her finally learn to fly.
